Summary of IIPC conference in Den Hague (Sara)

Sara and Søren summarized the highlight from the conference. These included:

  • Focus on rolling the WARC format. Bnf will write a proposal for IIPC for funding a SB/KB based full time developer focused on implementing WARC in the NAS project, thereby driving the usage of the WARC format.
  • Public presentation of NetarchiveSuite and Sara's draft roadmap for the project.
  • The Momento with participation of BNF, KB and ONB.
  • Partners for the NAS interested in using the system. The Australian National library was very interested and is planning a visit to SB/KB. The Library of Congress also showed interest, especially if NAS supported Heritrix 3.

Highlights from the IIPC conference in Den Hague.

Status of the priority process (Sara)

Output from Sara:

What are the next steps?

Next step is define more concretely define how the general roadmap areas can be mapped to worktasks we can schedule for the iterations in 2011 and 2010.

Status of Iteration 47 (3.16.0 stable release) (Mikis)

  • Status of task list for iteration 47
  • Status of Iteration 47 Release Test
  • Retrospective:
    • What went well during the iteration?
    • Nicolas contributed heavily to solving a number of database related problems as we discovered these in the release test.

    • What could be improved in the next iteration?

We need to have a better idea of the state of the system earlier in the iterations, so the release test doesn't stop the first time we stress the system. The introduction of continuous system test, where stress and load test might be included. Scaling up the tests systems at the different test sites might also be relevant to simulate production loads/performance.

Status of the production sites

  • Netarchive.dk (Tue)

SB and KB are experiencing problems with their NetarchiveSuite system problems in the ftp transfer under load, which cuases harvesters to block.

  • BNF (Sara)
  • ONB (Michaela)

Status of project migration to the SBForge platform (Mikis)

  • SBForge.org
    • All GForge stuff migrated.
    • Wiki migration will start as part of I48
    • Maven migration is hindered by cyclic depedencies in the current modules testcode.
  • Curator mailing list moved to SBForge.

Iteration 48 (Development release) (Mikis)

  • Nicolas might have to decrease the number of tasks in I48. He might on the other hand be able to contribute functionality from a parallel project at BNF. This might include introduction of Spring (se prioritized list from viana workshop)
  • Andreas hopes to add some of the ONB developed functionality to the NAS codebase. He will create one or more I48 JIRA issues to describe this.

Date for next joint tele-conference.

  • Proposal: Tuesday Jun the 14th

This will work for BNF if we schedule the meeting for 13:00 to 14:00.
